Back-to-Back: JB Intake vs Rottweiler Intake on a 2023 Husqvarna 701

Same bike, same day, same dyno, fuel and Arrow slip-on. The Rottweiler intake setup made 69.74 hp; the JB intake with our pump-gas PC6 map made 75.05 hp.

Claims are cheap. Dyno pulls are not. To see where our intake really stands, we tested it back-to-back against a Rottweiler intake on a 2023 Husqvarna 701.

The test

  • Bike: 2023 Husqvarna 701
  • Exhaust: Arrow slip-on (unchanged)
  • Fuel: 91 octane pump gas (unchanged)
  • Fuel controller and timing map: Dynojet Power Commander 6, same timing map (unchanged)
  • Same day, same dyno
  • Variable: Rottweiler intake and Rottweiler PC6 map vs JB Performance intake and JB PC6 map

The result

With the Rottweiler intake and map, the bike made 69.74 rear-wheel hp. With the JB intake and our map it made 75.05 hp: 5.31 hp more from the intake and map alone. For reference, a stock Gen 3 690/701 makes about 60 hp. See the full numbers on the dyno result page.

“I bought my Husky with the Rotty intake and PC5. It felt good, but never really impressed me too much. I ended up getting an intake from Joe Benner and had him dial in the PC5 on his dyno. I can definitely say it’s worth it to switch if you already have one of the other intakes.”

— Dallas Beranek, Husqvarna 701 owner

Why we test this way

Changing one part at a time on the same bike, on the same day, is the only honest way to know what a part is worth. It is how every JB Performance product is developed.
